Planning data

The LATIS Services assists in the collection and processing of likely future development planning data from the relevant Planning Authority within each Scottish Local Authority and National Park. Planning data is collected approximately once every two years (previously 2005, 2007 and 2009). The data collected is concerned with the short (approximately 5 years), medium (approximately 10 years horizon) and long term (20 years and beyond 'visionary' plan) population, households, employment, office floorspace and retail floorspace. This provides an understanding of where the population currently lives, where households are located and where people work as well as each Planning Authorities vision of where changes in planning developments will take place in future. This data is then fed to the LATIS modelling suite to provide key information to underpin future year land-use and transport related forecasts.
