Census Travel to Work (TTW) data provide information on where people live, where they work and how they generally travel between the two.

Standard output tables of the implied origin-destination pattern for the journey to work were obtained at Census Output Area level. A further analysis of home to workplace linkages was undertaken before the data was treated as true origin-destination trip matrices.

In addition to journey-to-work data, the equivalent information for journey-to-education was also collected in the 2001 Census in Scotland. This enabled demand matrices for school and other education trips to be included in the TMfS:07 Demand Model.
