The LATIS modelling suite, containing the Transport Model for Scotland (TMfS) and the Transport, Economic and Land-Use Model of Scotland (TELMoS), is a multi-purpose forecasting toolkit developed by Transport Scotland to assist in the investigation and assessment of different policies and strategies on land-use and transport provision.

The transport model, TMfS represents the travel demand and behaviour of key motorised modes of transport such as car, bus and rail in Scotland. The land-use model, TELMoS contains demographic, planning and economic data.

The combined application of TMfS and TELMoS provides a full Land-use and Transport Interaction (LUTI) modelling capability.

Within LATIS a hierarchical approach to model development has been adopted, with a high-level national model and more detailed regional Sub-models.

The figure below shows the hierarchical analytical approach adopted in LATIS.

For further details about the models please refer to the National model, Regional models and Local models pages.
