Modelling
The LATIS modelling capability is currently the largest and most sophisticated multi-modal transport modelling suite in Scotland and the models, along with their underlying data are a central component of Scotland’s transport planning toolkit.
The LATIS modelling capability suite consists of:
- Transport Model for Scotland (TMfS) - a multi-modal transport demand and assignment model that incorporates an integrated Economic and Land-use Model; and
- Transport, Economic and Land-use Model of Scotland (TELMoS) – an Economic and Land-use Model which works interactively with TMfS.
The key capabilities of the LATIS modelling suite are:
- to test how potential land-use changes affect demand for transport and what impact they have on accessibility, the economy and the environment;
- to test how transport interventions and policies impact on land development, accessibility, the economy and the environment; and
- to assist in prioritisation of changes and interventions.
