Role in the Government's Purpose
"to focus the Government and public services on creating a more successful country, with opportunities for all of Scotland to flourish, through increasing sustainable economic growth."
The Purpose provides a benchmark against which all Government policy may be assessed. The Scottish Government has developed a number of National Outcomes which will make a positive contribution to the Purpose, and are set out in the National Performance Framework.
The principal means by which LATIS supports the Government’s Purpose is through the like for like assessment of various transport and land-use interventions and policies. Its robust database of transport, land-use and demographic data, linked to a large and sophisticated multi-modal transport and land-use modelling suite enables decision making across a range of policy areas. Its consistent approach delivers a robust evidence base from which to appraise schemes and policies, and in particular, measure the key economic, social and environmental impacts of interventions.
